The Journey Behind the Stories

Jimmy Sechler is an author and creator of The Frozen Heart Saga, an epic fantasy series about courage, hope, sacrifice, family, and the enduring power of love in even the coldest winters.

I grew up on stories where an ordinary person walks into extraordinary weather and has to decide who they are going to be about it. That is still the only kind of story I know how to write.

The Saga began with one image: a boy on a cliff above his village, watching a storm roll over the peaks, certain that something extraordinary was waiting just beyond the next ridge.

Everything else — the kingdoms, the dragons, the six faces of winter — grew out of that one boy refusing to go inside.
