Where Steinwald Came From

Every great adventure begins somewhere, and for Lukas Keller, that place was Steinwald.

Nestled deep within the Swiss Alps, Steinwald is a small mountain village surrounded by towering peaks, dense pine forests, and snow-covered valleys. While it may appear to be an ordinary alpine community, Steinwald stands on the edge of ancient mysteries that have been hidden for centuries.

The village's name comes from two German words: Stein meaning "stone" and Wald meaning "forest," giving the town its fitting name: "Stone Forest." The rugged cliffs and sprawling evergreen forests that surround the settlement inspired its name generations ago.

According to legends passed down through Steinwald families, the mountains above the village were once home to forgotten kingdoms, ancient guardians, and powerful dragons. Most villagers viewed these stories as simple folklore, but many of the oldest residents believed there was truth hidden within the tales.

Long before the events of The Frozen Heart of the Alps, travelers and settlers were drawn to the valley by fresh water, fertile pastures, and the protection offered by the surrounding mountains. Over time, the settlement grew into a tight-knit community built on resilience, hard work, and respect for nature.

For generations, Steinwald remained largely isolated from the outside world. This isolation allowed its traditions and stories to survive unchanged, preserving hints of a forgotten age long after much of the world had moved on.

When readers first meet Lukas Keller, Steinwald is simply his home. Yet the village soon becomes much more. It serves as the gateway to hidden caves, ancient secrets, and the discovery of the Frozen Heart itself. What begins as a peaceful alpine town ultimately becomes the starting point for a journey that changes Lukas's life and the fate of the world.

In many ways, Steinwald represents the heart of the story: a place where ordinary lives and extraordinary destinies meet beneath the shadow of the Alps.
